RANGERS AND ROVERS

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Movement is to contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of the local, national and international communities.

PRINCIPLES

The Rovers/Rangers Movement is based on the following principles.

Duty to God

Adherence to spiritual principles, loyalty to the   religion that expresses them and acceptance of the duties resulting there from.

Note: The word "Dharma" may be substituted for the word "God " if so desired.

Duty to Others

Loyalty to one's country in harmony with the promotion of local, national and international peace, understanding, co- operation.

Participation in the development of society with    recognition and respect for the dignity of one's fellow men and for the integrity of the natural world.

Duty to Self

Responsibility for the development of oneself.

THE PROMISE

(a) The Promise for the Rovers
" On my honour, I promise that I will do my best-
To do my duty to God and my country
To help other people and 
To obey the Scout Law".
(b)The promise for the Rangers is 
“On my honour, I promise that I will do my best 
To do my duty to God and my country
To help other people and 
To obey thee Guide Law".

 THE EMBLEM

The Emblem of the Bharat Scouts and Guides is the Fleur- de- lis superimposed by the Trefoil with Ashok Chakra in the Centre of the Trefoil. The ratio of the length and breadth of the Emblem shall be 3:2.

Fleur- de- lis symbolises Scout Wing.

Trefoil Symbolises Guide Wing.

Ashok Chakra Symbolises India.

Horizontal Band Symbolises World Brotherhood.

ACTIVITIES

  • Training Camps
  • General cleaning of the University premises
  • Celebration of World Population day, Independence Day
  • Sadbhawna Diwas celebration by faithful prayer and different competitions
  • World Literacy Day celebration (Literacy Drive)
  • Rally on AIDS day
  • International Day for the disabled persons celebration
  • Rallies on social and environmental issues like leprosy, Human rights, women literacy, Polio etc. shall be organized time to time.
  • Community work/ Volunteering on the occasion of local celebrations, functions and exhibitions shall be done

The Law for the Scout and the Rover is :

  • A Scout is trustworthy.
  • A Scout is loyal.
  • A Scout is a friend to all and a brother to every other Scout.
  • A Scout is courteous.
  • A Scout is a friend to animals and loves nature.
  • A Scout is disciplined and helps protect public property.
  • A Scout is a courageous.
  • A Scout is thrifty.
  • A Scout is pure in thought, word and deed.

The Law for the Guide and the Ranger is :

  • A Gide is trustworthy.
  • A Guide is loyal.
  • A Guide a friend to all and a sister to every other Guide.
  • A Guide is courteous.
  • A Guide is friend to animals and loves nature.
  • A Guide is disciplined and helps protect public property.
  • A Guide is courageous.
  • A Guide is thrifty.
  • A Guide is pure in thought, word and deed.
